Dr Erich Fein

Reader Erc has studied Eastern European History, Applied Ethics, and Psychology across three universities. He commenced postgraduate study at the Ohio State University in 1998, completing two research degrees:
an MA in cognition and learning in 2001 and a PhD in motivation in 2005.


He has worked as an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Wilmington College of Ohio (2005 – 2008), as a
Lecturer in International Management, Ethics, and Values at the University of South Australia (2009 – 2013),
and as a Senior Lecturer of Psychology at the University of Southern Queensland (2014 – present).


Ordained as a reader in 2017, he has served as the senior reader at St John the Baptist Orthodox Mission in
Toowoomba since 2017, with his wife serving as choir director. He also assists with readings at Holy
Annunciation Orthodox Church in Brisbane. Reader Erc and his wife were married in 2000 and were received
into the Orthodox Church with their six children at the Monastery of the Prophet Elias in South Australia in
2011.


Reader Erc has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles on leadership and motivation as well as five
chapters in edited books on virtue ethics. He currently co-supervises 10 PhD students at the University of
Southern Queensland on numerous topics including the assessment of wisdom and risk taking in leadership.
His current funded research projects involve the application of virtue ethics to the regulation and healing of
post traumatic stress.
