Melanie has been the SCMOI librarian since 2021 and is an associate member of the Australian Library and Information Association. She studied her Master of Information Management course at RMIT, graduating with distinction, and has completed a Graduate Certificate in Theology through SCMOI to complement her vocation as a theological librarian. Prior to studying librarianship (Information Management), Melanie completed both a Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours) and Master of Arts (Research) at Monash University, specialising in ancient history and was the Global Winner in her field at the 2017 Global Undergraduate Awards. Her education and research experience makes her the ideal consultant for faculty, students, and researchers to draw upon when using the library collection.
Melanie is also an active member of the Australian and New Zealand Theological Library Association (ANZTLA), Vic/Tas chapter. She has presented papers at their conferences, which have been subsequently published in the ANZTLA Ejournal. She has also established a community of practice for cataloguers using the Pettee Classification System, known as “The Pettee Collective,” the fruits of which can be viewed on the Pettee webpage of the ANZTLA website. Furthermore, Melanie was the recipient of ANZTLA’s “Trevor Zweck Award" in 2024, her work with the Pettee Collective being acknowledged as a significant contribution to theological librarianship in Australia and New Zealand.
